Unusual. I think that word will be one that we use often in the future as we describe the year 2020 and all the things that happened (or didn’t happen)! Things have certainly not been normal, but we believe that God is at work in all of this and we know that our mission is still the same: “To make disciples who are growing together in the grace and knowledge of Jesus and proclaiming His Gospel and glory as their personal mission.”
On April 4th, 2020 in response to the Missouri State of Emergency and the Health Orders in place at the time, the Official Board of Nelsonville Assembly passed a resolution adopting emergency by-laws in order to meet the unique challenges that might be posed by COVID-19. With that authority, on May 11th, 2020 a motion was passed stating that “The Official Board of Nelsonville Assembly will postpone the Annual May Business Meeting prescribed in Article VIII, Section 2A of the church Constitution until a later time when such meeting can be held safely and the social distancing orders for the State of Missouri have been lifted.”
As the health orders for Marion County have been lifted and we have been resuming our regular services and schedules, our board has re-scheduled this postponed business meeting to take place on July 19th, 2020 at 6:00 pm. As with all our business meetings, we believe that this is an important time for the members of the church to be present and engaged. Please mark this date on your calendar and plan to be here… your voice matters!
The Constitution and By-Laws require that at this second meeting, the church membership votes upon the election of the pastor for a 1-year term. In addition to the voting, we will also have a time of review, an opportunity to hear about plans for the future, and discussion around potential changes to some of our operations and ministry schedules.
Before the meeting on the 19th, we want to hear your thoughts specifically regarding the suggestion made by several members of the church that we consider changes to our Sunday Morning Service times. To share your thoughts, please take a moment to fill out the survey from the link below!
I look forward to celebrating what God has done and looking forward together to what He will do in the future! If you have any items you would like added to the agenda for discussion or consideration, please let me know by the end of the day on Sunday, July 12th.
Soli Deo Gloria,
Pastor Isaiah Jesch
